CREATING A HOME ENVIRONMENT
Initially, we thought that this would be one of the most difficult parts in our production stage. Simply because - as many typically psychological horrors are - our horror movie trailer is supposed to be set in a house. As we have no budget and limited time to shoot our trailer, we realistically only have one day to film it in a college environment. Clearly, this worried us as a college lacks the comfort and homely look that we need in order to make our concept work. However, we took the time to wander around the school grounds and we found some areas that could pass as a home environment if we were to add certain props to it.
LIVING ROOM AND LOUNGE
The staff room lounge area is a significant scene in the trailer in which the main part of the narrative begins - they are having a movie night. We found a set of couches (and plan on adding a television as well as other props in order to make it look natural and homely, like a real living room.

For our trailer, the first few shots are of a single couch. We will need to move furniture around so that we are only focusing on the back of one couch as this is how we have planned it in our storyboard.

Kitchen area
As we realised that we may not be able to find a suitable bathroom or staircase to film on, we became anxious that we may not be able to include these scenes. Because of this, we will be making changes to our trailer and replace these scenes with one from a kitchen area. This staffroom kitchen will resemble a normal one found in a house when we add some homely touches to it with certain props.

Basement
While this seemed to be an easy location, it has arguably turned out as the hardest to find. Because it is a basement, it needs to be very dark looking - this is the reason why our target audience voted for it during the research process. We have not found a place that is perfect for the scene however we have found a few possible locations that could work if we made some additions to it.
the use of bathrooms in 'b0110cks'
While originally, we planned to have a full scene shot in a bathroom (as you can see from our first animatic in the pre-production stage), we discovered that this would be close to impossible in a college campus. This is because bathrooms in the college all had multiple urinals and cubicles and lacked showers and baths which would take away from the home environment. We were very careful about how we shot in the two bathrooms we included in our trailer. For Conroy's death scene, we shot only the corner of the boy's bathroom to avoid showing too much. It turned out to be quite an intimately shot scene, quite close up, but this arguably added to the tension of the scene. The other bathroom we shot in was a staff's bathroom where we shot only the mirror for Magris' death scene. We feel that with such a limited choice, we adapted well and were successful in making the most of what we had.
